About us

Independent esports media, based in Melbourne.

Scrimfolio was founded on a simple idea: competitive gaming deserves journalism as serious as the people who play it. We cover the scene with analysis, context and editorial independence — and we keep our content strictly media-only.

Why we exist

The esports audience has grown faster than the media serving it. Too much coverage is recycled press releases, clickbait results and hot takes with no evidence behind them. Scrimfolio exists to do the opposite. We treat tournaments as sporting events worth analysing, teams as organisations worth tracking, and games as products worth reviewing on their merits.

Every article we publish is written by a member of our editorial desk and checked by a second editor before it goes live. We do not run pay-for-coverage, and we do not let commercial relationships influence a score or a verdict. When a piece of content is sponsored or contains an affiliate link, we label it clearly — you will always know what you are reading.

How we score

Our review scores are editorial judgements, not marketing numbers. Each score weighs three areas equally. Skill ceiling asks how far players can keep improving. Watchability asks whether a newcomer can follow a match and enjoy it. Scene health asks whether there is a stable circuit, a grassroots pathway and ongoing support from the developer. We also note the learning curve so readers know what to expect. Every title gets proper hands-on time before we publish, basic facts are checked against the developer's own pages, and we revisit a score when a major update changes the game.

Right now our scored reviews cover Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League and Dota 2. We are independent of Valve, Psyonix and Epic Games, and of every tournament organiser whose events we cover.

Our independence

Scrimfolio is funded entirely by on-site advertising. We are not owned by a publisher, a tournament organiser or a team, and we carry no sponsored placements in our review scores. That independence is the whole point — it is what lets us say when an event was poorly run or a hyped release fell flat. We are a media company, not a gambling operator: there is no betting, no wagering, no real-money play and no cash prizes anywhere on this site.

Corrections & contact

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them transparently. If you spot an error, or you represent a team or event and want to get in touch, email us at [email protected]. We read everything, even if we cannot reply to all of it.
