Responsible media
Covering gaming without feeding the harms.
Scrimfolio is an esports media platform, not a gambling service. We take seriously the responsibility that comes with writing about games for a large audience — including younger readers — and we set clear lines we will not cross.
Our commitment
We publish news, analysis and reviews about competitive gaming. We do not host games for money, we do not operate betting markets, and we do not promote gambling products, loot-box purchasing or real-money wagering of any kind. Nothing on this site can be bet with, bought, won or cashed out. Where we write about a game's monetisation, we do so critically and in the reader's interest — never as an inducement to spend.
Keeping gaming healthy
Esports is a sport and a culture worth celebrating, but like anything it is best enjoyed in balance. We encourage readers to keep gaming in proportion with sleep, study, work and relationships, to take regular breaks, and to be mindful of time and money spent inside games. If gaming has started to feel compulsive, or it is affecting your mood, your finances or the people around you, reaching out early makes a real difference.
Protecting younger audiences
Although our content is labelled 18+ as an editorial platform, we know esports has a young following. We avoid sensationalising gambling-adjacent features in games, we flag age ratings where relevant, and we point younger readers and their families toward the Australian eSafety Commissioner for practical guidance on staying safe online.
How we talk about money in games
Modern titles are full of storefronts, battle passes and cosmetic purchases, and we cover them honestly. When we write about a game's monetisation we explain how it works in plain language, flag anything we consider predatory, and never present spending as a path to success or status. We also steer clear of language that mimics gambling — there are no odds, no “wins”, and no encouragement to chase purchases anywhere in our coverage.
Where to get support
These are independent organisations with no connection to Scrimfolio. If you or someone you know needs help, they are a good place to start.
Hold us to it
If you ever feel a piece of Scrimfolio content crosses the lines set out on this page, tell us. Email [email protected] and our community and standards editor will review it. Responsible coverage is not a one-off promise — it is something we check ourselves against with every article we publish.
